SeaBed won the competitive tender for environmental seabed dredging in Marvika (Kristiansand) awarded by the Norwegian Defence Estates Agency. The work was comprehensive and demanding and was completed in the summer of 2009, in accordance with the contract. Due to the presence of a larger amount of seabed contamination than originally anticipated, the Norwegian Defence Estates Agency has resolved to implement additional work in order to achieve the desired level of purity.
After extensive further development of the equipment through an OFU contract supported by Innovation Norway, the cleanup operation will continue throughout the summer and autumn of 2010. The cleanup and cleansing of the seabed throughout the whole area is now planned to last until the end of 2010.
